The Town of Homer is located in Central New York approximately 30 minutes from the City of Syracuse, and is the third largest municipality in Cortland County (2010 U.S. Census population 6405) with respect to population.

It contains the Village of Homer, which is an historic community that was first settled in 1791 along and near the banks of the Tioughnioga River. One block west of the River is Main Street in the Village, along which remains a relatively unspoiled 19th century downtown with a Village Green surrounded by churches, houses and the elementary school.

The Town outside of the Village contains rolling hills and valleys which are still primarily used for agriculture. The Town also contains the hamlets of East Homer, which is mostly residential, and Little York which, located north of the Village along Little York Lake, has a few small shops featuring arts and crafts, a year-round farm market & bakery, and a large greenhouse and garden store.

Although many dairy and crop farms remain, the Town is a prime residential area for people working in the cities of Cortland and Ithaca to the south, and Syracuse to the north.

Please see the below dates that the Town Clerks Office will be closed or closing early. This, and other information regarding meetings, etc., are also found in the calendar at left.
