Supervisor Forbes read the legal notice (attached) regarding the adoption of the proposed local law which would provide a limited real property tax exemption for certain Cold War veterans. Forbes stated that it would bring the Town into conformance with the existing exemption provided by the County. This exemption had been approved by resolution at the April meeting after which it was learned that a local law was necessary for its adoption.
In response to a question from Janet Steck, Forbes explained that certain veterans have not been eligible for tax exemptions under the current veteran’s exemption law because they did not serve during a time of conflict.
As there were no further questions or discussion, the public hearing was adjourned at 7:20 p.m.
Public Hearing #2 on a local law to require prior written notice was called to order by Supervisor Forbes at 7:21 p.m.
Supervisor Forbes read the legal notice (attached) regarding the adoption of the proposed local law which would require that the Town receive written notice of allegedly dangerous conditions on its roads, sidewalks or parking lots before the Town can be held liable for such conditions.
As there were no further questions or discussions, the public hearing was adjourned at 7:27 p.m.
Anita W. Jebbett
