The Town Justice Court is located in the Homer Town Hall. To access the Court Clerk’s office, use the rear entrance to the building off the parking lot.

Town Court Hours:
Court is normally held the first three Tuesdays of the month, at 4:00PM.

Virtual Court Instructions:
Occasionally, it is necessary to hold court virtually. If your case is to be virtual, please follow the instructions below.

  1. It is recommended that you keep your microphone muted and video off until you would like to speak.  This will minimize distractions for all people.
  2. When you join the meeting you will be placed in a lobby and the court will let you into the meeting at the appropriate time.  If for some reason you leave the meeting, the court will have to re-admit you to the meeting.
  3. All court sessions are audio recorded.  The video might also be recorded when the Court feels this is helpful.
  4. If you are having trouble joining the meeting, you can try calling the court.  However, due to limited staffing there is no guarantee that your call will be answered during court.

The office is closed on legal holidays.
Ticket Information:
If you receive a traffic ticket in the Town of Homer, please follow these instructions:

Plead either guilty or not guilty on the ticket and mail the ticket to:
Homer Town Court
4 Water Street, Homer NY 13077.

Section A is a Guilty Plea.
If you make a guilty plea, the Judge will simply set your fine and send you notification through the mail of that fine and the New York State Mandated Surcharge if there is one. You will be given 30 days to pay.

Section B is a Not Guilty plea.
If you make a Not Guilty Plea, the court will mail a letter to you regarding how to proceed.

To avoid a suspension of your driver’s license, you must mail your plea to our court.

If you are charged with a Misdemeanor level crime or higher, you will need to appear in court on the date the officer provided for arraignment. A Plea sent through the mail cannot be accepted.
